“Mijn naam is Quint van Gansewinkel (26) en komende november zal ik voor Run for Life Team 2023 aan de start van de New York City Marathon staan.

Na de halve marathon in Amsterdam (2021) en Parijs (2023) te hebben gelopen, is het voor mij nu tijd voor een hele marathon. En hoe tof is het om die in The Big Apple te lopen!?

Toen het idee voor de New York City Marathon ontstond, wist ik eigenlijk meteen dat ik dit graag in combinatie met een goed doel wilde doen. Op die manier ren ik niet alleen voor mezelf, maar ook voor anderen. Helaas kent iedereen in zijn of haar omgeving wel iemand die met kanker te maken heeft of heeft gehad. Ik draag dan ook graag mijn steentje bij voor KWF Kankerbestrijding, om zoveel mogelijk geld op te halen voor onderzoek naar kanker. Voor mij zal het lopen van de New York City Marathon enkele uren strijden zijn; echter staat dit op geen enkele manier in verhouding tot het 24/7 strijden van kankerpatiënten om deze ziekte te overwinnen en daarom is onderzoek hiernaar hard nodig.

Ik waardeer het enorm als je ook een donatie wilt doen. 100% van mijn donaties gaan naar KWF Kankerbestrijding en elk bedrag is van harte welkom!

In 12 jaar tijd hebben 221 renners met ons meegelopen, een geweldige prestatie! Hierop voortbouwend gaan we in 2023 voor de 13de keer met een nieuw team maar met dezelfde toewijding voor ons doel.

In 1949, het oprichtingsjaar van KWF Kankerbestrijding, was slechts 25% van de kankerpatiënten 5 jaar na de diagnose nog in leven. Dit percentage is sindsdien gestegen naar 65%. Een mooi resultaat, maar er is nog een lange weg van veel onderzoek te gaan.
